    GUILDFORD HARMONY

     ABOUT US

Guildford Harmony have been singing in and around the Guildford area for almost 30 years. During that time we have sung in the High Street, at the Electric Theatre, at H.M.P. Send and Pirbright army barracks, and we have performed at retirement homes and in village halls all over Surrey.

We were founded in 1980 so it's our 30th birthday next year. Thanks to the support of some great Musical Directors over the years - Dave Smith, Jennie Beck, Veronica May, Nick Frampton, Audrey Sentinella, Mike Warner and (very briefly) Jo Wood - and the experience we have in-house we have a solid foundation on which we intend to build an exciting future with our new M.D. Andrew Edgley who joined us in May 2009.

Every year we take part in the annual chorus competition hosted by the Ladies Association of British Barbershop Singers. As well as the excitement of competition it gives us the chance to catch up with old friends who sing in other choruses across the country which is always fun.

We also like to support local music festivals when we can and in 2008 won both Barbershop and Open classes in the magnificent setting of Charterhouse chapel at the Godalming Music Festival.

It's not all about competition, though. We sing at all sorts of events in the community and regularly raise 4-figure sums for local charities. This year we are supporting The Riverside Cafe, which provides an invaluable service for senior citizens in Guildford.
