Warner gets the boot!

A 1,000 mile per week commute is too much even for one with Mike Warner's love of barbershop so when he announced that he and his family were embarking on a new and more peaceful life in the wilds of Scotland we realised that another chapter of Guildford Harmony's history was drawing to a close.

Mike's sense of humour and everlasting patience coupled with his singing and vocal coaching ability (not to mention his boyish charm) made him a firm favourite at the club and there were lots of hugs and some misty-eyed goodbyes at his last rehearsal. He was 'seen off' with a video presentation reflecting on his time with Guildford Harmony and presented with some DIY-store gift vouchers and a pair of woolly socks before club Chairman Jill Lewis gave him the boot...in the shape of a pair of Wellingtons.

Mike will be returning to take the chorus to LABBS Convention in October but the routine business of expanding our repertoire and helping us to sing-out in the local community now rests with Dave Smith. He takes on the role of 'caretaker manager' at least until the New Year and perhaps beyond, depending on other committments. Dave was the chorus's very first M.D. back in 1980, he has a wealth of musical talent and experience to draw on and we are all very pleased that he is able to come back and reprise his earlier role.
